The God father by Mario Puzo
The year is 1945, Vito Corleone at his daughter’s marriage, overhears someone requesting his role as Godfather, Don of New York crime family. The youngest son of Vito brings his good friend along with him to attend the marriage functions and also to introduce her to his kin… Another of Vito’s son, Johnny Fontane, wants Vito’s help to get a role in a flick. Vito asks one of his friends from Los Angeles to ask the studio head Jack Woltz for giving Johnny a role. Woltz doesn’t agree with him.
A little while before Christmas, drug dealer Virgil “The Turk” Sollozzo, sponsored by Tattaglia crime family, asks permission from Vito to invest in his drug business along with protecting him through political links. Cautious of being involved in a new business, risking and isolating politics, Vito doesn’t accept the offer. Vito, who is now unsure, sends one of his bully, Luca Brasi to keep an eye on them.
