The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium #1) by Stieg Larsson
It’s the year 2002, quite very cold as it’s December, the publisher of Swedish political magazine Mikael Blomkvist, Millennium, loses a character assassination case, which involves accusations against billionaire tycoon Hans – Erik Wennerström is imprisoned for around 3 months, and also given orders to pay a huge amount for the damage caused along with the costs to be paid by him. After a while Henrik Vanger sends an invitation to meet him, he is the CEO of a company, not knowing that Vanger knows everything about him, Henrik has been spying on him for quite some time, now, he has people hired to do the same, one of them being Lisbeth Salander, who is a computer hacker.
Vanger makes a promise to give Blomkvist proof against Wennerström, but in return, he wants to know the whereabouts of Vanger’s grandniece, Harriet, who unknowingly disappeared, sometime in 1966. Vanger assumes her to be killed, by her own family. Hanger also vanished during one of a family meeting at Vanger estate on Hedeby Island (in Germany).
