The story revolves around the girl Kate Burkholder who is the police chief of Painters Mill. Kate is really compatible and courageous girl and the most deserving candidate for this post.

She got appointed in the area where Amish community and English live together by their own different lifestyle. But one day when one Amish woman found to dead in the mysteries condition then story takes the flash back of Kate’s life.

As originally Kate was also Amish girl but in her teenage she just left her family and community but after the death of that women make her uncomfortable as  this sudden  murder of women compel her to past and she reminds about the same kind killings which she had witnessed in her past.

Although she is competent enough but the horrible death disturbed her and she is judged as the inexperienced officer to solve the mystery of that murder. Then one outsider officer ordered to intervene in the mission which also becomes the reason for spice of romance in the story.
