It is a story of Satrapi’s childhood & how she enters adulthood, amid a loving & large family in Tehran, when the Islamic Revolution was in full spirit.Her going to her home, all the flavors of life, be it sweet- bitter & then her getting away from her native place. Her lifespan from childhood to adulthood is all very well put down by the author, Marjane Satrapi.
The book has two parts, the first one show Satrapi’s childhood spent in Iran, the Islmaic Revolution, while the second part shows her high school years spent in Austria. Her returning to Iran, attending college, marrying, separating from her husband, going to France, Persepolis is a story of a little girl, who lives without any security. Persepolis, won many rewards, text award, at, Angouleme International Comics Festival Prize for Scenario Angouleme, France, being one of them, another important accolade being that of criticism of authoritarianism in Spain. Its movie version also received no less recognition; it was honored highly, especially in 2007, also named Official French Selection for Best Foreign Language Film.
