A typical courtroom drama of a migrant Korean family and a single mother who is very young, she is accused of murdering her 8-year-old son.
In Kim’s amazing debut which include lots of twist and turns. It includes Young and Pak Yoo who live in a very small town in Virginia named Miracle Creek along with their daughter Mary. After coming to Virginia from Seoul, they decided to start a new business. But then a very bad incident happened which is the best part of this novel, leaving two people dead. Due to the explosion, Pak in a wheelchair, and Mary got scared permanently. After one year, the Yoos has to be testified in court against a lady named Elizabeth Ward. She has been charged for murdering her own son. Henry had been undergoing HBOT to treat his health condition, but unfortunately, he died in the explosion. As the trial went further, each person that night who had been present there must tell what really happened. It includes another important character named Matt who is a doctor.
What really happened and how the explosion happened?
Kim is a former lawyer and she clearly knows her stuff. The level of detail is sometimes long but it is a well-written novel about the pains and joys of motherhood as well as the unforgiving nature of justice.
