This book has focused on the bacterial cellular metabolic systems. As in the system biology metabolic regulation of cell is of prime importance. For predicting the effects of metabolism of both culture environment and of specific genes the robust model is needed.
The book starts with the overview about the metabolic mechanisms and the regulation of cell systems. Afterwards the information about the actions of the global regulators in response to specific culture environment has been discussed. Later part of the book covers the conventional flux balance analysis and its applications, 13 c- metabolic flux analysis along with the effect of specific gene knock out. This book highlights the metabolic flux analysis with 13c-labelled experiments.
It also provides the glimpse about the effects of cultural environment on the cell metabolism through the global regulators with sigma factors or through the signal transduction. Even the use of Escherichia coli as a model cell system has been described. Along with this author has effectively explained about the effects of nitrogen, carbon and phosphate sources along with the oxygen on the transcriptional regulation.
Author has used the modeling and computer simulation approach for explain the metabolic systems to highlight its importance and to have depth understanding for the readers.
